Dunbar Place is located at 964 Constitution Blvd., Rock Hills, SC, off I-77 near the North/South Carolina state line, Rock Hill is an easily accessible destination for a fun getaway any time of year and boasts a climate consisting of all four seasons. Rock Hill is the most populous city in York County and the 5th-most populous city in the state.  As of the 2020 census, the city’s population was 74,372. Sitting at an elevation of around 676 feet above sea level, the city is approximately 150 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 75 miles from the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Established in 1851 as a railroad depot, the city earned its moniker when rail crews encountered a flint hill and dubbed the spot “Rock Hill.” It went on to serve as a transfer point for Confederate troops and supplies during the Civil War.  Once part of South Carolina’s rich textile manufacturing industry, Rock Hill reinvented itself in the new millennium as a sports tourism destination, drawing athletes and spectators from around the world.  

The scenic riverfront views along the Catawba River are breathtaking and are home to numerous nature trails, restaurants, and thirty-one parks which are used for both national and local events. Historic downtown consists of 12 contiguous buildings, built as early as 1840, offering a variety of dining and retail options. 

Home to 3 colleges, including Winthrop University, a public liberal arts school founded in 1886 with an enrollment of nearly 6,000 students annually. The district operates 27 schools in the city, including 19 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 3 high schools with an enrollment of 25,000 students.  Religious and charter school options are also available.

The city's world-class cycling facilities have played host to a number of national and international competitions, including the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships, second only in prominence to the Olympic Games. The Old Town Amphitheater serves as center stage for theater, dance, musical performances and concerts headlined by well-known artists like Charlie Daniels, Lyle Lovett, Huey Lewis and Edwin McCain. Fountain Park offers another scenic spot for more community events, including the popular Summer Food Truck Fridays.
Rock Hill has plenty to offer the arts lover. In Old Town Rock Hill alone, there are three visual arts centers and the DIY craft and paint and sip studios. Winthrop University is home to art galleries, a recital hall, a performance center offering stage and dance productions, and an auditorium featuring a 5,000-pipe organ considered one of the largest and finest instruments in the South.

Rock Hill is also home to the Catawba Indian Nation, the only federally recognized tribe in the state of South Carolina. Catawba Indians have lived on ancestral lands along the banks of the Catawba River for at least 6,000 years. Visitors can learn more about the tribe’s history and culture at The Catawba Indian Nation Cultural Center.
With more than a dozen neighborhood parks with playgrounds, many picnic shelters, a dog park, a disc golf course and courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball and horseshoes, there is always something to do. Feed your taste for adventurey at Southtown Wake Park and Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour! Or, launch a kayak or canoe and paddle the Catawba River, walk or bike a 2.5-mile paved trail along the river’s edge or mountain bike through the woods.
Glencairn Garden and River Park provide quiet spots to picnic, take a leisurely stroll or simply sit and enjoy nature. Or enjoy a walk through the historic college campus of Winthrop University with its stately neo-Georgian architecture and picturesque lake. The hidden gem here is the beautiful Hardin Family Garden with its fountain wall and many artistic and geometric elements.
